Camille, by Alexandre Dumas, 1937. Illustrated and SIGNED by MARIE LAURENCIN (!).

Ladies and gentlemen, the most beautiful book I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning:

Camille, by Alexandre Dumas, 1937. ILLUSTRATED AND SIGNED BY ARTIST MARIE LAURENCIN. Number 1146 in a limited edition run of 1500 copies. Simple gray slipcase holds a beautiful treasure of a book.

The story, originally written by Alexandre Dumas, fils in 1848 and titled “La Dame Aux Camelias,” is a tragic autobiographical tale of a bourgeois gentleman in Paris falling in love with a courtesan. You may recognize the story as the basis for the opera, La Traviata. 213 pgs, measures approx. 11.3” H x 8.8” W x 1.3” D. Very good condition - minor scuffing to edges of slipcase, slight wear and toning to book itself. More images of condition on website.
